GLOBETROTTER INSURANCE

Globetrotter – The Right Travel Insurance at the Right Price
Globetrotter - the right travel insurance at the right price

If you want a good travel insurance policy, look no further than Globetrotter. It gives you excellent holiday cover, good reliability, a degree of flexibility… and all at a very affordable price.

We have two types of Globetrotter policy:
annual multi trip travel insurance, and
single trip travel insurance.

Both give you the right travel insurance cover at the right price.

Globetrotter also offers some benefits you may find hard to find elsewhere. For example it is one of the few policies on the market currently offering travel insurance for the over 65s. (Most insurers do not cover people 65 years or over, but we go up to 75).

In addition, anyone in Europe can buy it. Given that its cost is generally much lower than the equivalent type of policy in Europe, particularly in Spain, that makes it an excellent ex pat travel insurance policy too.

Globetrotter Holiday Insurance (Single Trip) Covers:
Personal accident insurance
Medical expense and holiday benefit cover
Baggage, personal effects and money protection
Personal liability insurance
Travel delay insurance
Cancellation and curtailment cover
Missed departure protection.

In addition, you benefit from:
A top quality claims service
Family rates at a discount plus children included free (up to the age of two) or half price (up to the age of 16)
A choice of whether to pay in euros or sterling on your credit card
Online medical screening (coming soon).

Globetrotter Holiday Insurance (Annual Multi Trip) Covers:
All the above, plus
Annual cover for any amount of trips that you make
Medical cover automatically included for 17 days' wintersports every year
Freedom to plan long holidays (the cover includes the facility to take single trips within the year of up to 31 days for people up to the age of 64)
Travel insurance for OAPs aged up to up to 75 years
Older travellers can also plan long holidays - up to 24 days as standard, or up to 31 for a small additional premium if you are aged 65 to 75 years

Q&As

Questions & Answers
For the full terms and conditions, we strongly recommend that you read the terms and conditions of the policy, available here. However, for quick reference, here are some common Q&As.

If I buy, what if I find the policy doesn't suit my needs?
No problem. Contact us at any time in the 14 days after you receive the policy and we will give you a complete refund, as long as you can confirm that you have not travelled or made a claim on the policy.

Am I covered for pre-existing medical conditions?
As with most travel insurance, the standard Globetrotter policy can't cover you for pre-existing medical conditions. But we could still give you cover if you pay an additional small premium or increase your excess (the amount of the claim you pay). Call us for details. To cover pre-existing medical conditions that have required treatment in hospital or through a specialist, talk to MH HealthCheck
on 01895 234 919.

How do I declare my pre-existing medical conditions?
Just declare it on the policy application proposal form.

Are there age limits on the policy?
With our single trip holiday insurance policy, we take your age from the date of departure and offer cover for people of any age. Under our annual multi trip travel insurance, we take your age from the date when you want the policy to start, and offer cover for anyone aged up to 74 years old. Your age can have a bearing on the maximum length of trip you can take (see question below).

What's the maximum length of trip I can take?
We like our clients to take long holidays. So we give you a generous maximum single trip allowance. On our single trip travel insurance, you can take a trip of up to 90 days if you are aged up to 64 at the point of departure. Those aged 65 to 74 can take a trip of up to 31days, and those aged 75 or over can take a trip of up to 24 days. On our annual multi trip travel insurance, you can take a trip of up to 31 days if aged under 65, and up to 24 days if aged 65 to 74 (or 31 days with the payment of a small additional premium).

Is there a limit to the number of trips I can take on the annual multi trip policy?
No - you are free to take as many trips as you like, as long as none of them exceeds the 'maximum single trip' allowable in your policy (see question above).

Does the policy cover my valuables?
To give universal and unlimited cover for valuables under a standard travel insurance policy would mean you'd have to pay a large insurance premium. That's a waste, especially considering that you've probably already got your valuables insured under your regular household insurance. Therefore we give you a reasonable limit on valuables, but make sure we offer great protection on the things for which you really need travel insurance - like medical expenses, cancelled flights and lost passports. This is normal practice for travel insurance policies. We have an overall limit on valuables, ie jewellery, watches, cds or camcorders, etc, of 250 euros, with a single item maximum of 200 euros. Mobile phones are not covered as many people have these insured separately.

How do you value items I want to claim for?
As is common in travel insurance, this is not a 'new for old' policy. Instead we settle your claim taking into account the market value of your posessions based on the age of the items and wear and tear.

Is this a private medical insurance policy?
Globetrotter covers you for medical treatment. However it is not a private medical insurance policy. In a medical emergency that means you should always use the local State facilities, unless there is no alternative. If in doubt, please call the 24 hour emergency medical assistance number shown in the policy.

Are dangerous sports covered?
On our single trip policy winter sports is covered on payment of an additional premium, whilst with our annual multi trip holiday insurance, you automatically get up to 17 days' winter sports cover. If you are considering other hazardous sports like rock climbing, gliding or scuba diving below 9 metres, you will not be covered under either policy. Call us for advice.

How is my passport protected?
Getting a replacement passport abroad may mean you have to travel to a specific location or even stay overnight while the paperwork is being sorted out. Therefore we cover you for such expenses up to a maximum of 750 euros. See section B3 of the policy.

Does this policy cover me when travelling at home?
Globetrotter only covers you for travel outside your country of domicile or residence, not at home.

How do I make a claim?
You can see how to claim at the end of each section of the policy; Travelrisk Management process our claims, and you can obtain a claim form either online at www.travelrisk.net,
by phone on 0161 236 9454,
or by email on travelrisk@belmontint.com.

Should I take a copy of the policy with me on holiday?
Yes, it's a good idea. Also leave a copy with a friend or relative at home in case you lose your original.
