TRAVEL BONDING SERVICE

Travel Bonding Service
In order to trade as travel provider, you need some travel bonding in place. This type of financial security not only protects your customers, but it is also a requirement of many industry groups.

The main types of travel bonds are:
• ABTA travel bonds - for agents and tour operators,
• ATOL travel bonds
- ATOL registered companies selling holidays which include air travel need to provide the Civil Aviation Authority with a bond.
• IATA travel bonds
- which protect payments under BSP.
• Travel bonding for trade associations
- such organisations often require members to produce a bond. This means even companies selling accommodation or travel by rail, coach or ferry need travel bonding protection.

Bonds can be arranged through lump sums or in some cases through trust funds or insurance policies.

But it's a complex area and, given the amounts that you potentially need to cover, it is important to make the right choice.

Let us do the legwork for you. We offer a whole-of-market search to find you the best travel bonding quotes and arrangements from specialist suppliers. And we can advise you on your best options, whether you are a large multi-national or a small retailer.

All you have to do is pick the most suitable solution.

PROTECT STAFF/CUSTOMERS

Protect Customers and Staff with Professional Liability Insurance
Just occasionally things go wrong. And the buck generally stops with you. So are you covered with the best professional insurance against loss, injury and accident?

Take away the guesswork. Ask about our combined insurance packages for travel industry professionals. We offer a whole-of-market search for travel agent and tour operator insurance compliant with the 1992 Package Travel Regulations. That gives you an honest and independent view of the market. And you then just choose the stand-alone or combination insurances that you need.
• Professional indemnity (errors and omissions) - protects travel agents and tour operators against errors made by staff or representatives, eg if the brochure contains a misprint or a customer is given the wrong information about flights.
• Products / public liability - protects agents and operators against death or injury to customers and other people due to a failing or lack in the holiday.
• Emergency assistance - under the Package Travel Regulations a Tour Organiser must provide up to £5,000 by way of a loan to clients to assist them with an emergency that might arise during their holiday. This section of the allows the Tour Organiser to reclaim this money should the need arise.
• Employers' liability insurance - essential for every operator or agent to protect against claims from employees injured or becoming ill as a result of their job. It is a legal requirement for all UK employers to have this insurance and it covers employees working abroad or at home. Arrange your cover through Milsom Howard Ltd either as part of a combined liability insurance, or as part of your office insurance package.

PROTECT YOUR OFFICE

General
If there were a serious problem in the office, would your customers notice? To run a seamless operation, you need good office insurance that can cover you for any of the challenges you might face as a business.

We offer a specialist office insurance package for everyone in the travel industry. It typically covers:

• Computers - protection against theft or fire/flood damage.
• Office contents - protection against the effects of fire, water damage or theft.
• Business interruption - eg in case you have to relocate after a fire.
• Increased cost of working - eg when you have to draft in extra staff to get you up and running after an interruption to business caused by fire or flood, etc.
• Staff fidelity - a dishonest staff member could wipe out your company's profits, but you can buy insurance that will reimburse you for the loss of cash or tickets.
• Staff assault - including compensation payments for any member of staff who is assaulted on your premises.
• Employers' liability - a requirement for UK employers. Available as part of an office insurance package, or separately within a combined liability policy.

FINANCIAL FAILURE

Financial Failure of Scheduled Airlines or Tour Operators
If you work in the travel industry, you may need additional cover against the financial failure of companies with which you do business, eg:

Scheduled Airline Failure Cover (SAFC)
ATOL and ATOL agents who sell scheduled flights need to protect their customers against the potential financial failure of the airlines concerned.

You have three choices. You could just make it very clear to your customers that you do not offer financial protection in case of scheduled airline failure. (But that risks customer satisfaction.) Or you could just decide that if the worst happens, you will pay for replacement tickets yourself. (But that's an open-ended risk to your bank balance.) Or the middle way (and the one we think makes most sense) is to take out a simple insurance policy that you can charge on to clients.

Scheduled airline failure cover is not an expensive insurance. And it's one that under normal circumstances most agents don't pay themselves, instead opting to add a few pounds to the cost of the original ticket.

Tour Organiser Financial Failure
Under the 1992 Package Travel Regulations, even small tour organisers need insurance. If you put together two out of three parts of a holiday package, you need to offer some form of financial failure security until your customer is safely back home after the trip. Therefore if you are not bonded in another way, you will need some form of insurance to cover your risk.

Talk to us about what additional protection you might need, and we'd be happy to advise.

FULFILMENT

Fulfilment
How do you want to issue your travel insurance policies?

You can choose to self-issue through your own website, using policies that are branded in your corporate style or name.

But there is another way, by letting us issue tailored travel insurance policies on your behalf. All you do it place a link from your site to ours, and customers can arrange their own cover without your involvement.

You Benefit in Two Ways:
First you don't need to deal with extra administration, customer care issues or the Financial Services Authority.
And second, as we pay you a commission for every policy taken out in this way, you earn money for doing nothing.
